About

Slow Food Chattanooga is the Chattanooga chapter of a world-wide non-profit organization,  Slow Food International.  Slow Food was founded in Italy by Carlo Petrini in 1987.  It began as a counter to the “fast life”- food and other forms of lifestyle.  The purpose was to bring together remaining small farmers and food producers, and to create a vibrant community where they could interact, learn, and share their knowledge of food culture for generations to come.  The Slow Food movement focuses on keeping food the “way it should be” Good (for the farmer and the co-producer), Clean (for the land and the eaters), and Fair (for everyone involved).

Our Vision
We envision a world in which all people can access and enjoy food that is good for them, good for those who grow it and good for the planet.

Our Mission
Slow Food is an international grassroots membership organization promoting good, clean and fair food for all.
