Slow Food Chattanooga and Gaining Ground are excited to announce a special opportunity next Saturday, January 21!  Join us as we watch a live, streaming  webcast of the latest TEDx event, a symposium called CHANGING THE WAY WE EAT. The one-day event will highlight several aspects of the sustainable food movement and the work being done to shift our food system from industrially-based agriculture to one in which healthy, nutritious food is accessible to all. Speakers from all walks of life will share their ideas, including Mitchell Davis of the James Beard Foundation, chef Jamie Oliver, and our area’s own Birke Baehr. More information, including speaker bios, is available on the TEDxManhattan website.

The event will last from 10:30 am to about 5:30 pm, but feel free to come and go as your schedule allows. There will be a potluck lunch at 12:15, and we ask that if you attend that portion of the event you bring a dish made with at least one local ingredient for all to share.  Additionally, bringing your own plates and utensils is encouraged!  Later in the afternoon, there will be time for candid discussion. This is a free event, open to all.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bringpeople together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and livespeakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TEDConference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
